ABOUT
Sword Team is one of seven offered at Valencia’s AFJROTC program. Our team, as suggested by the title, focuses on practicing and perfecting the spinning techniques of the sword. We take these techniques and compete with other JROTC programs to win awards like trophies, some of which are displayed at the front of the JROTC classroom. We aim for creativity and encourage cadets to come up with their own techniques and spins as well as learning older ones!
“My experience in saber team has been really just a generally good one. It’s one of the first things in a long while that I have really wanted to pursue, and practicing was never a chore, easily one of the few things I looked forward to in the week. For the most part in the team everyone is close and while practicing usually doesn’t seem like something that you would look forward to in a day, it was easily one of the most fun parts of JROTC for me.”
